About International Relations Department of EKA

The Trade Union Movement has by definition an internationalist character which is confirmed through its action at global level aiming to promote solidarity and cooperation between trade unions.

For many years now, EKA has been developing a broad international activity and cooperation with its counterparts in Capital cities.

The International Relations Department supports EKA in international fora and trade union conferences and contributes to highlighting major issues relating to workers' rights, equal access to the labour market, peace, environmental protection, combating climate change and just transition to an environmentally friendly society and economy and cooperation between peoples.

It has a constant presence and contribution in trade union initiatives and events in Europe through its participation in the ECTUN (European Capitals Trade Union Network) http://www.ectun.eu, whose is a founding member since 1991.

From 2018-2021, the Head of the EKA's International Relations Department Dr Christina Theochari was elected Coordinator of ECTUN and she was re-elected in the 2022 elections. In addition, the International Relations Department supports and implements European projects with a wide range of topics of trade union and social interest.
